Four of Nairobi’s exciting talents, Ghedi, Mura, Hiribae and Paps, make their Sondela Recordings debuts with ‘Masaa’, a release that proudly puts Kenya’s growing electronic music scene front and centre. Following two consecutive Sondela showcases in Nairobi, including appearances from Ghedi in 2024 and Hiribae in 2025, it feels fitting to continue that relationship through music.

Fun, kinetic and unmistakably Kenyan, ‘Masaa’ pairs Swahili vocals with a distinctive lead synth, driving rhythms and an unexpected mouth harp sample. “Masaa ni sasa” means “the time is now”, while “Cheza sasa” calls you to “dance now”, capturing the track’s message perfectly. Built for that point in the night when standing still is no longer an option, ‘Masaa’ celebrates the creativity and momentum coming out of Nairobi right now.
