Data We Collect

We only gather the information needed to deliver releases, live experiences, and artist support.

Listeners & Visitors

  • Consent-based analytics (pages viewed, device type, approximate location, referrer) via PostHog.
  • Playback interactions (play, pause, favourite) to monitor platform performance.
  • Newsletter sign-up details (name, email, city) when you provide them.

Analytics specifics: We do not use session recording, heatmaps, or cross-site tracking. PostHog analytics are consent-based, respect Do Not Track signals, and use first-party cookies only. Data is retained for up to 24 months in aggregated form.

Artists, DJs & Partners

  • Demo or booking submissions (contact details, rider notes, EPK links, availability).
  • Contracting information for releases, publishing, remixes, or splits.
  • Payment and invoicing records handled through secure third-party processors.

Event & Workshop Attendees

  • Ticketing data (name, email, attendance history) supplied by event platforms.
  • Accessibility requests so we can prepare the venue, stage, or programming.
  • Media consent when we capture photo or video content.

From Third Parties

  • Streaming and chart data shared by DSP partners like Spotify for Artists and Apple Music for Artists.
  • Social engagement metrics provided by Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
  • Campaign performance from Mailchimp and event stats from Resident Advisor, Dice, or Eventbrite.

How We Use Data

  • Share releases, events, and mixes that match the interests and location of our community.
  • Deliver and document artist, collaborator, and supplier contracts.
  • Protect the platform, keep payments secure, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Measure how campaigns perform so artists understand their audience.
  • Meet legal obligations covering tax, copyright, employment, and safe event operations.

Lawful bases include legitimate interests (analytics, platform security), consent (marketing updates, optional cookies), contract (artist and partner data), and legal obligation (record keeping).

Sharing & Partners

We do not sell personal data. We work with trusted processors who support the label:

  • Mailchimp for newsletters and release alerts.
  • Resident Advisor, Dice, Eventbrite for ticketing and guest list coordination.
  • Vercel, PostHog for hosting, analytics, performance monitoring, and error tracking.
  • Payment processors and accountants when we onboard artists or collaborators.
  • Legal advisors and regulators if required to comply with the law.

Each partner signs a data processing agreement and must uphold equivalent privacy safeguards.

International Transfers

We collaborate with artists, labels, and fans worldwide. When personal data leaves South Africa, the UK, or the EU we rely on adequacy regulations, Standard Contractual Clauses, or certified vendor frameworks to keep it protected.

Retention

We keep information only while it serves the purpose it was collected for:

  • Newsletter preferences until you unsubscribe, with a 30-day suppression log.
  • Artist and collaborator records for seven years to satisfy accounting and legal obligations.
  • Event attendance records for up to three years to support incident follow-up.
  • Aggregated analytics for a maximum of 24 months.

Your Choices & Rights

You can exercise the following rights at any time:

  • Request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold.
  • Opt out of marketing using the unsubscribe link in every newsletter.
  • Change analytics consent via the Cookie Settings control in our footer.
  • Object to processing or ask for restriction when we rely on legitimate interests.
  • Request a portable copy of the data you supplied to us.
